CPAP
Alsons Group, with over 65 years of manufacturing experience in High Tech Precision Engineering, has developed a lifesaving CPAP device that is safe, effective and cost efficient. The product is a UK Qualified Sophisticated CPAP Device, designed by UCL (University College London) and Mercedes AMG-HPP, and has been developed under license by Alsons in Pakistan. The UK Department of Health and Social Care has commissioned and successfully deployed 10,000 of these devices for distribution across England, and they have been approved by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). The device has also been successfully used to combat COVID-19 in Australia, Mexico, Philippines, and host of other countries. Currently, the product has been tested under clinical conditions on COVID-19 patients as a CPAP Device at Abbasi Shaheed and Dow Medical Hospitals in Karachi with positive results. It has also been tested successfully as an HFNO setup at Dow Medical Hospital. The Pakistan Engineering Council has conditionally approved it for emergency use on patients, and the device is being registered at the Drug Regulation Authority of Pakistan.
This device is capable to handle high flow rate oxygen therapy with positive air way pressure (CPAP mask) This device keeps the airways continuously open in people who are able to breathe spontaneously on their own, but need help keeping their airway unobstructed. It is an alternative to positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP). Both modalities stent the lungs' alveoli open but PEEP refers to devices that impose positive pressure only at the end of the exhalation, CPAP devices apply continuous positive airway pressure throughout the breathing cycle. Thus, the ventilator itself does not cycle during CPAP, no additional pressure above the level of CPAP is provided, and patients must initiate all of their breaths.
